Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik (the Rav) was the towering rabbinic thinker of the twentieth century. In addition to his wellspring of Torah knowledge, the Rav taught, wrote and lectured extensively on Chumash. The Rav, however, never wrote a systematic commentary on Chumash, and, until now, the only way to study his interpretation and analysis of Chumash was to search for pertinent material by wading through the Rav's published writings and hard-to-find audio tapes of his lectures and shiurim. Now, for the first time, the Rav's teachings on Chumash have been collected into a published commentary on Sefer Bereishis (The Book of Genesis). Commentary by the Rav on the weekly Haftarah is included. Edited with skill by Dr. Arnold Lustiger, this groundbreaking Chumash, the first volume of a contemplated set of the entire Torah, reflects the Rav's intellectual breadth and depth, his exegetical creativity and the timelessness of his insights. Complete with an English translation of the Torah text, Rashi's commentary and an eloquent and original Torah commentary, the Chumash Mesoras HaRav is perfect for synagogue, home and school use. --Jewish Action, August 2013 About the Author Dr. Arnold Lustiger previously edited Machzor Mesoras Harav on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Before Hashem You Shall Be Purified: Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik on the Days of Awe, and Derashot Harav: selected lectures of Rabbbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik

The Tanakh is the cornerstone of Jewish thought and religious life. The serious study of Tanakh requires constant effort, as we sift through the commentaries who are locked in a perpetual state of debate. At the same time, we have a sacred duty to move seamlessly beyond the textual analysis in order to build a robust religious life and a virtuous and inclusive society, and partake of the living experience of God and humanity.
Master educator Rabbi Hayyim Angel, the National Scholar of the Institute for Jewish Ideas and Ideals (jewishideas.org), focuses on that intersection between text analysis and an authentic religious life. These scholarly articles-written in an engaging, accessible, and lucid manner-explore an array of seminal religious topics from biblical and rabbinic tradition, including: The Land of Israel, biblical and contemporary morality, Sephardic biblical interpreters from the past 500 years, and dogma in Jewish tradition, among others. By understanding these foundational issues, readers of all backgrounds will connect more deeply to their religious roots and apply these discussions in their daily lives.

They are short enough to read with one’s family at the Shabbos table but long enough to contain many original and fascinating insights. Rabbi Fletcher, who has been described by Dan Levy, editor of the London Jewish Tribune as the “Cheerleader of Anglo-Jewry,” and who is the author of many other sefarim on halacha and hashkafa, now shares with us his insights on the weekly parsha. ”חידושי דרוש אמיתיים מבוססים על השקפת חז"ל“ Rav Hillel Asher, Posek, Beitar, Eretz Yisroel “Uncompromising adherence to authentic Torah sources with a pleasant and compelling writing style” Rabbi Chaim Ingram, senior Rabbi in Sydney, Australia “Insightful, enlightening and truly interesting” Moe Cohen, Hong Kong “Perfect blend for Shabbos table discussions” Mendy Porges, New York “Easy to read, with powerful lessons” Shoshi F.
